The Wayside Inn's water-powered Grist Mill opened on Thanksgiving Day, 1929 and is still used to grind the corn and wheat used for baking at the Wayside Inn. Open April through October, Wednesday through Sunday from 9AM to 5PM. Staffed by a trained interpreter, with grinding demonstrations on weekends. Call ahead advised.

Every Wednesday, beginning at 7PM, through Wednesday, September 24th. The Ancient Order of Fife and Drum perform traditional Colonial music dating from the 18th and early 19th century, on the lawn in front of the Wayside Inn. Come and enjoy a traditional dinner of classic New England cuisine and watch the costumed musicians until dusk. Call ahead advised.

Colonial Kids Day will whisk your child back into the days of the little red schoolhouse, hoops, and horn books. Children ages 8 and up will be treated to a taste of life as a child in Colonial America. Schoolmarms “Miss Sue” and “Miss Janet” will delight each participant with a colonial-child’s hat and apron, stories and light lessons in the Redstone Schoolhouse, colonial games and an array of arts and crafts such as “silver engraving”, embroidery, stenciling, writing with a quill pen, and horn book making. The day will also include a hot lunch in one of the Wayside Inn’s historic dining rooms, complete with a lesson in simple table manners.

The ABCs of Dining Etiquette will teach children ages 8-11 to be comfortably polite at any table. Topics will include setting a table, handling silverware, cutting meat, restaurant etiquette, and more. Etiquette consultant Janet Parnes, trained by the Protocol School of Washington, will conduct the workshop.

Dozens of Ford Model-A cars will be displayed, rain or shine, near the Wayside Inn's dramatic canopy tent on. Many of the automobiles' owners will be costumed and ready to tell the stories of these fabulous vehicles. During the event, the Model-A Ford Club of America is sponsoring a special concert featuring a fully restored 1897 Carousel Organ from 1pm to 3pm. Delicious barbeque will be available throughout the event, featuring a variety of family favorites cooked by Wayside Inn kitchen staff for a small fee. Cash bar available. Admission to the event is free and reservations are not required.
